Baka Prashna/Yakhya Prashna: (The Questions of the righteous Crane or the Yaksha)

Question No. 1:Yaksha questioned: Who makes the sun to rise and ascend in the skies? Who moves around the Sun? Who makes the sun set in the horizons? What is the true nature of the Sun and where is the sun established?

Yudhisthira answered: Brahma makes the sun rise and ascend. The Gods perambulate about the Sun. The Dharm sets the Sun. Truth is the actual Sun and the Sun is established in truth only.

Question No. 2: Yaksha enquired: What instills 'divinity' in Brahmins? What is the quality of virtuousity in a Brahmin? What is the humanlike quality of a Brahmin? What is the conduct akin to a non-virtuous person in a Brahmin?

Yudhisthira replied: The self-study (Swadhyana) of the Vedas is divinity in a Brahmin. Penance is the quality like a virtuous person in a Brahmin. Death is human-like quality in a Brahmin. Criticising others is conduct in a Brahmin like a non-virtuous person.

Question No. 3: Yaksha asked: What instills 'divinity' in Kshatriyas? What is the quality of virtuousity in a Kshatriya? What is the humanlike quality of a Kshatriya? What is the conduct akin to a non-virtuous person in a Kshatriya?

Yudhisthira replied: The art of archery is the divinity in a Kshatriya. Oblation is Kshatriya's quality of virtuousity in Kshatriya. Fear is his humanly quality. Abandoning people under protection of the Kshatriya is conduct like a non-virtuous person in the Kshatriya.

Question No. 4 the Yaksha asked: What is that thing which is like a Mantra in the performance of oblations (Yajnya)? Who is the performer of rites and ceremonies during Yajnya? Who accepts the offerings and oblations of a Yajnya? What is that which even a Yajnya can not transgress?

Yudhisthira replied: 'Breath' is like a Mantra in the performance of rites. 'Mind' is the performer of all rites in the course of Yajnya. Only Shlokas of the Vedas, termed rucha or the richa accept oblation. The Yajnya can not surpass nor transgress the richas.

Question No. 5 the Yaksha asked: What is heavier than earth, higher than heavens, faster than the wind and more numerous than straws?

Yudhishthira: One's mother is heavier than the earth; one's father is higher than the heavens. The mind is faster than wind and our worries are more numerous than straws.

Question No. 6 the Yaksha asked: Who is the friend of a traveler? Who is the friend of one who is ill and one who is dying?

Yudhishthira: The friend of a traveler is his companion. The physician is the friend of one who is sick and a dying man's friend is charity.

Question No. 7 the Yaksha asked: What is that which, when renounced, makes one lovable? What is that which is renounced makes happy and wealthy?

Yudhishthira: Pride, if renounced makes one lovable; by renouncing desire one becomes wealthy; and to renounce avarice is to obtain happiness.

Question No. 8 the Yaksha asked: What enemy is invincible? What constitutes an incurable disease? What sort of man is noble and what sort is ignoble?

Yudhishthira: Anger is the invincible enemy. Covetousness constitutes a disease that is incurable. He is noble who desires the well-being of all creatures, and he is ignoble who is without mercy.

Question No. 9 the Yaksha asked: Who is truly happy? What is the greatest wonder? What is the path? And what is the news?

Yudhishthira: He who has no debts is truly happy. Day after day countless people die. Yet the living wish to live forever. O Lord, what can be a greater wonder? Argument leads to no certain conclusion, the Srutis are different from one another; there is not even one Rishi whose opinion can be accepted by all; the truth about Dharma and duty is hid in caves of our heart: therefore, that alone is the path along which the great have trod. This world full of ignorance is like a pan. The sun is fire, the days and nights are fuel. The months and the seasons constitute the wooden ladle. Time is the cook that is cooking all creatures in that pan (with such aids); this is the news

Dengue vaccine tested on Indian adults, found safe

The world's first dengue vaccine CYD-TDV has passed the crucial India test and could be available in the country as early as by the end of next year.

In an exclusive interview to TOI, the vaccine makers Sanofi Pasteur revealed that their first study of the vaccine on Indian adults (aged 18-45 years) across five sites in India — Delhi, Ludhiana, Bangalore, Pune and Kolkata found the vaccine "safe and immunogenic in Indian adults" with results comparable to other clinical studies in Asia.

வெறிநாய் கடித்தால் ரேபீஸ் என்ற நோய் ஏற்படும். உயிரையே பறிக்கும் அபாயம் இதில் உண்டு என்பது அனைவருக்கும் தெரியும். ஆனால், இந்தக் கொடிய ரேபீஸ் பற்றிய சில முக்கியமான தகவல்கள் பலருக்கும் தெரிந்து இருக்க வாய்ப்பு இல்லை.

இதுபற்றி எஸ்.கே.எஸ். பிராணிகள் நல மருத்துவமனையின் மருத்துவர் டாக்டர் வி. அருண், கூறிய தகவல்கள் .

* உலக அளவில் இந்தியாவில் மட்டும் 50 சதவிகிதத்தினர் வெறிநோய் எனப்படும் ரேபீஸ் பாதித்து இறக்கின்றனர் என்கிறது முக்கியமான மருத்துவப் புள்ளிவிவரம். உலக அளவில் ரேபீஸ் நோய்க்கான எந்த தடுப்பு முறை திட்டங்களையும் செயல்படுத்தாமல் இருப்பதும் இந்தியாதான் என்கிறது அந்த ஆய்வு.

* ரேபீஸ் நோயைப் பரப்பும் வெறி நாய்கள் இரண்டு வகைப்படும். முதல் வகை நாய்களை பார்த்ததுமே அடையாளம் கண்டுகொள்ளமுடியும். பயங்கரமான முகத்துடன், வெறி பிடித்தது போல சுற்றி வந்து கண்ணில் தென்படுபவர்களை கடிக்கும். ஆனால், இரண்டாம் வகை நாய்கள், யாரிடமும் பழகாது அமைதியாக, இருளான அதேசமயம் தனிமையில் ஓர் ஓரத்தில் ஒதுங்கி இருக்கும். இந்த வகை நாய் கடித்தாலும் ரேபீஸ் வரும் வாய்ப்பு உண்டு.  நம்மிடம் நன்றாகப் பழகும், சாதாரணமான வீட்டு நாயிடமும் ரேபீஸ் வைரஸ் இருக்க வாய்ப்பு உண்டு. (Carrier dogs). எனவே எந்த நாயாக இருந்தாலும் முறையாக ரேபீஸ் தடுப்பு ஊசி போட்டு, வளர்ப்பது குடும்பத்தில் இருக்கும் அனைவருக்குமான பாதுகாப்பு.

* ஒருவரை நாய் கடித்த 24 மணி நேரத்துக்குள் அவருக்கு தடுப்பு மருந்தை, ஊசி மூலம் செலுத்த வேண்டியது அவசியம். அதற்கு மேல் தாமததித்தால் மருந்தினால் அவ்வளவாகப் பலன் இருக்காது.

* பொதுவாக, நாய் கடித்ததுமே, முதலுதவியாக கடிபட்ட இடத்தை சோப் தண்ணீர் விட்டு நன்கு கழுவி விட்டாலே 75 சதவிகித ஆபத்து குறைந்துவிடும். மேலும், கடிபட்ட இடத்தில் கண்டிப்பாக பேண்ட் எய்டு, பேண்டேஜ், தையல் போடுவதை தவிர்ப்பது அவசியம். காயத்தைத் திறந்த நிலையில் விடவேண்டும். இவற்றைச் செய்தாலே, 90 சதவிகிதம் ஆபத்தைத் தாண்டிவிடலாம்.

ஊசிப் போடும்போது கவனிக்க...

* ரேபீஸ் நோய்க்கான தடுப்பூசியை கண்டிப்பாக குளிர்சாதனப் பெட்டியில்தான் வைத்து பராமரிக்கவேண்டும். ஓரிடத்தில் இருந்து மற்றொரு இடத்துக்கு எடுத்துச்செல்லும்போதும் குளிர்சாதனப் பெட்டியில்தான் எடுத்துச்செல்ல வேண்டும். இல்லையெனில் பலன் தராமல் போகலாம்.

* அதே போல, ஊசியைப் போடும் இடமும் மிகவும் முக்கியம். பலர், வழக்கமான ஊசியைப் போல, இதையும் பின்பக்க சதையில் போடுகின்றனர். ஆனால், இந்த ஊசியை கண்டிப்பாக, கைகளில் மேல்பக்க புஜங்கள் அல்லது உள்பக்க தொடையில்தான் போடவேண்டும். பின்பக்கத்தில் போடுவதால் எந்தவிதப் பலனும் இல்லாமல் போய்விடக் கூடும்.

நல்லது செய்ய முயன்று தவறினால்:-

சில சமயம் நல்லது செய்ய முயலும்போது, முடிவு தவறி விடுவதும் உண்டு. 
அந்த முடிவும் வருங்காலம், இறந்தகாலம் ஆன பின்னரே தெரியும்...
அதற்கு பயந்து எதுவுமே செய்யாமல் இருப்பது சரியா??
எதைச் செய்தாலும் கை கொட்டி பரிகாசம் செய்பவர்கள், எங்கும் உண்டு.
இந்த முக்காலமும் உணர்ந்த ஞானிகள்...
சரியாக இருந்தால், தண்ணீரில் கரையும் உப்பாவர்..
தவறாகப் போனால், புண்ணில் கொட்டிய உப்பாவர்..

Universe and life

The universe, they say, started with a big bang.
A single atom hundreds of billions of years ago, blasted to form time, matter, space and various elements that we see now
Life as we know, starts with a single cell, a stem cell, that blasts to forms and transforms into eyes, ears, brain, heart, digestive, reproductive and all other systems.
Humans share almost 98% of their genes with apes and even share their genes with trees. A small variation branches out to a totally different species.
Sounds simple yet so highly complex..

We are just tools who bring our children to this earth

விலங்குகள் கூட தன் குட்டிகள் ஒரு வயது வந்த பின், சுதந்திரமாக விட்டு விடுகின்றன.
ஆனால் நாம் தான், நம் பிள்ளைகள், பேரப் பிள்ளைகள் எல்லாம் நம் சொல் கேட்டு நடக்க வேண்டும் என்று நினைக்கிறோம்.
நாம், நம் குழந்தைகள் பூமிக்கு வர உதவும் கருவிகளே...
குழந்தைகள் நன்றாக வளர்ந்த பின், கொஞ்சம் விலகி நின்று வாழ்த்தி, மகிழ்ந்து பார்த்தால் நலம்.

Same Energy Source

The Question that troubled me and the question I asked to trouble others:-

ஒவ்வொரு உயிருக்கும் ஆன்மா என்று ஒன்று உண்டெனில், பல ஆயிரம் வருடங்களுக்கு முன் சில லட்சங்களில் இருந்த ஜனத்தொகை, இன்று பல நுறு கோடிகளில் உள்ளதே?

ஆன்மாவும் பிறக்குமா?

I have realized something like this:-

ஒரு விளக்கின் ஒளி, பல விளக்கிற்கு ஒளி தருவது போல நாம் அனைவரும் ஒரே மூல ஆற்றலில் [Same energy source] இருந்து வருகிறோம். ஒளி [உயிர்] இருக்கும் வரை விளக்கின் [உடலில்] மேல் ஆடி விட்டு காணமல் போகிறோம்.

Science: 13.8 billion years ago, all matter in the universe was contained in a single point. Bigbang created matter, gravity, time, space that formed stars and everything, we know, hear and see.

But mars and earth follows a rule to orbit the sun, and the sun orbits the Milky Way galaxy with its planets. They also follow a pattern, rule. Billions of galaxies and stars also follow a rule. Who programmed them?

The cockroach theory for self development
    
At a restaurant, a cockroach suddenly flew from somewhere and  sat on a lady.

She started screaming out of fear.

With a panic stricken face and trembling voice,she started jumping, with both her hands desperately trying to get rid of the cockroach.

Her reaction was contagious, as everyone in her group also got panicky.

The lady finally managed to push the cockroach away but ...it landed on another lady in the group.

Now, it was the turn of the other lady in the group to continue the drama.

The waiter rushed forward to their rescue.

In the relay of throwing, the cockroach next fell upon the waiter.

The waiter stood firm, composed himself and observed the behavior of the cockroach on his shirt.

When he was confident enough, he grabbed it with his fingers and threw it out of the restaurant.

Sipping my coffee and watching the amusement, the antenna of my mind picked up a few thoughts and started wondering, was the cockroach
responsible for their histrionic behavior?

If so, then why was the waiter not disturbed?

He handled it near to perfection, without any chaos.

It is not the cockroach, but the inability of the ladies to handle the disturbance caused by the cockroach that disturbed the ladies.

I realized that, it is not the shouting of my father or my boss or my wife that disturbs me, but it's my inability to handle the disturbances caused by their shouting that disturbs me.

It's not the traffic jams on the road that disturbs me, but my inability to handle the disturbance caused by the traffic jam that disturbs me.

More than the problem, it's my reaction to the problem that creates chaos in my life.

Lessons learnt from the story:

I understood, I should not react in life.

I should always respond.

The women reacted, whereas the waiter responded.

Reactions are always instinctive whereas responses are always well thought of.
A beautiful way to understand............LIFE.

வீட்டுத்தோட்டம் ஆத்தூர் செந்தில்குமார் ‘‘காய்கறி வாங்க கடைக்கு போறதில்லை!’’ ‘‘எவ்வளவு சீக்கிரம் முடியுமோ... அவ்வளவு சீக்கிரம் வந்துடுங்க. சூரிய உதயத்துக்கு முன்னாடியே செடிகளைப் பார்த்தாதான் அதுங்களோட அழகை முழுமையா உணர முடியும்’’- இப்படி குழந்தையின் குதூகலத்தோடு தொலைபேசியில் நமக்கு அழைப்பு வைத்தார் இந்திரகுமார். நூறு ஏக்கர்... இரு நூறு ஏக்கர் என்று பயிர் செய்பவரல்ல இந்த இந்திரகுமார். கிடைக்கும் இடம் அரை அடியோ... ஒரு அடியோ... அல்லது வீசி எறிவதற்காக நகரத்து வீடுகளில் இருக்கும் ஒரு கொட்டாங்குச்சி கிடைத்தால் கூட, அதையே தன்னுடைய நிலமாக்கிக் கொண்டு பயிர்களை வளர்த்து அறுவடை செய்யும் அற்புத வித்தையைக் கற்று வைத்திருக்கும்... கற்றுக்கொடுக்கும் மனிதர்! சென்னையிலிருந்து தெற்கு நோக்கி விரியும் சாலையில், பல்லாவரத்தை ஒட்டிக்கொண் டிருக்கும் பம்மலில்தான் அவருடைய வீடு. சென்னைக்குச் சற்றும் இளைக்காமல், இண்டு இடுக்கெல்லாம் வீடுகள் முளைத்துவிட்ட கான்கிரீட் காடுகளில் ஒன்றுதான் பம்மல். அந்த கான்கிரீட் காடுகளுக்கு ஈடுகொடுத்து செடி, கொடிகளை வளர்த்துக் கொண்டிருப்பவர் இந்திரகுமார். இவர், எக்ஸ்னோராவின் துணை அமைப்பான 'இல்ல எக்ஸ்னோரா' என்பதன் தலைவர் பதவியையும் வகித்து வருகிறார் ஒரு நாள் காலை வேளையில் அவருடைய வீட்டில் நாம் ஆஜரானோம். வீட்டுத் தோட்டம் முழுக்க பலன் தரும் பழ மரங்கள்... மொட்டை மாடிக்கு பச்சைத் தொப்பிப் போட்டது போல, திரும்பிய பக்கமெல்லாம் காய்கறிச் செடிகள்... மாடிப்படிகளில் கீரைகள்... ஜன்ன லோரத்தில் ரோஜாக்கள்... என்று விதம்விதமாக நம்மை பரவசப்படுத்தின. சற்று உணர்ச்சிவசப்பட்டவராகவே பேசத் தொடங்கினார் இந்திரகுமார். ‘‘மெக்கானிக்கல் இன்ஜினீயராக வாழ்க்கையைத் தொடங்கின நான், இன்னிக்கு இயற்கை இன்ஜினீயரா மாறிட்டேன். இதுக்குக் காரணம் ஒரு செடிதான். ஆனா, அது என்னோட எதிரிச் செடி. அதுவும் அன்பான எதிரி. அதோ, எதிர்ல புதரா மண்டிக்கிடக்கே பார்த்தீனியச் செடி. அதுதான் அந்த எதிரி. பல வருஷங்களுக்கு முன்னாடி அமெரிக்காவிலிருந்து கோதுமையோட சேர்ந்து இந்தியாவுக்கு வந்த விருந்தாளிதான் பார்த்தீனியம். இதோட பேரைக்கேட்டாலே பலரும் அலறித்துடிப்பாங்க. அந்த அளவுக்கு ஒரு அபாயகர மானச் செடி. 2001-ம் ஆண்டுல இந்தப் பகுதியில இருக்கற குளத்தை 'எக்ஸ்னோரா' அமைப்பு மூலமா தூர் வார முடிவு செஞ்சோம். அந்த இடத்துல முளைச்சி கிடந்த பார்த்தீனியத்தை ஆளாளுக்குப் புடுங்கிப் போட்டோம். அவ்வளவுதான் அன்னிக்கு ராத்திரியே உடம்பு நடுங்க ஆரம்பிச்சிருச்சி. உடம்பு முழுக்க சின்னதும், பெருசுமான கட்டிகள் வேற வந்துடுச்சி. உயிர் பொழைக்கிறதே கஷ்டங்கிற நிலைமை. அலோபதி மருந்துகளைக் காட்டிலும் சித்தமருந்து கள்தான் இதுக்கு நிவாரணம் கொடுக்கும்னு சிலர் சொன்னாங்க. அதன்படியேச் சாப்பிட்டேன். கொஞ்சம், கொஞ்சமா ஆரோக்கியமான நிலைக்குத் திரும்பினேன். நான் வேலை பார்த்துக்கிட்டிருந்த கம்பெனியில இருந்து விருப்ப ஓய்வு வாங்கிக்கிட்டு வெளியே வந்தவன்தான்... இன்னிக்கு வரைக்கும் இயற்கையோட வாழ்க்கை நடத்திக்கிட்டிருக்கேன்’’ என்று நிறுத்தியவர், ''எனக்குனு இருந்த 3,200 சதுர அடி நிலத்துல 600 சதுர அடிக்கு சின்னதா வீடு கட்டியிருக்கேன். மீதி நிலத்துல பிற்காலத்துல தோட்டம் போடலாம்னு முடிவு செஞ்சி ஒதுக்கி வெச்சேன். என்னோட உயிரை எடுக்கப் பார்த்தது ஒரு செடிதான்; உயிரைக் கொடுத்ததும் இன்னொரு செடிதான் (மூலிகை). அதனால செடிகளையே நண்பன்னு முடிவு செஞ்சேன். அதுக்கப்புறம் வீட்டுல இருக்கற இடம் பூராவும் மா, கொய்யா, சப்போட்டா, பாதாம், சீத்தா, ராம் சீத்தா, ஆல்ஸ்பைசஸ், பாக்கு, பப்பாளி அப்படினு மர வகைகளையும்...  எட்டு வகையான மல்லிகை, விதம்விதமான ரோஜா, மனசை மயக்குற மனோரஞ்சிதம், சம்பங்கி, கோழி சம்பங்கி, காகிதப்பூ, செம்பருத்தி, நித்திய கல்யாணினு நம்ம ஊரு பூக்களையும், லில்லி, லிச்சினு வெளிநாட்டு வகை பூக்களையும் தோட்டத்துல பயிர் செய்திருக்கேன். இதையெல்லாம் நான் ஆரம்பிச்சது சென்னையே தண்ணீர் பஞ்சத்தால தள்ளாடிக்கிட்டு இருந்த நேரத்துலதான். இதைப் பார்த்துட்டு, 'மனுஷனே காசுக்கு தண்ணி வாங்கி குடிக்கும்போது, எங்கே இருந்து இந்த ஆளு செடிகளுக்குத் தண்ணி கொடுக்க போறார்'னு அக்கம் பக்கத்துல பேசுனாங்க. மழைத் தண்ணிதான் செடியைக் காப்பாத்தும்னு எனக்குத் தோணுச்சி. முதல் வேலையா மழை நீர் சேகரிக்கத் தொட்டிக் கட்டினேன். எதிர்பார்த்தபடியே மழைநீர் நிறைய கிடைச்சி, நிலத்துல சேர்ந்துது. அந்தக் காலக்கட்டத்துல ஆளாளுக்கு போர் போட்டு பூமியில இருந்த தண்ணியை உறிஞ்சு எடுத்தாங்க. ஆனா, நான் இன்னிய தேதி வரைக்கும் போர் போடல. அதே 23 அடி கிணத்துல இருந்துதான் தண்ணி எடுத்துக் குடிச்சிக்கிட்டு இருக்கோம். மழை நீர் சேகரிப்பு மூலமா மரம், செடிகளுக்கும் தண்ணி கிடைச்சுடுது'' என்று சொன்னவர், அடுத்தபடியாக மாடித்தோட்டத்துக்கு வந்தார். ''ரெண்டு பொண்ணு, ஒரு பையன், அன்பான மனைவினு அஞ்சு பேர் கொண்ட என் குடும்பத்துக்கு தேவையான காய்கறி, மூலிகைகளை வளர்க்க நினைச்சேன். வீட்டைச் சுற்றி இருந்த இடத்துல பலவகையான மரங்களை நடவு செஞ்சிட்டதால... காய்கறி செடிகளுக்கு இடமில்ல. ஒரு நாள் மொட்டை மாடியைப் பார்த்தப்ப, ஆகா நிலம் கிடைச்சாச்சினு எனக்குள்ள ஒரு மின்னல். உடனே தோட்டம் போட்டுட்டேன். வீட்டுல காய்கறித்தோட்டம் போடறதுன்னதும் பெரிசா இடத்தைத் தேடி அலைய வேண்டாம். மனசு வெச்சாலே போதும். மொட்டை மாடியில காய்கறி; மாடிப்படிகள்ல கீரை; சன்னல் ஓரங்கள்ல ரோஜானு எல்லாவித செடிகளையும் நட்டு பலன் பார்த்திட முடியும். பத்தடி உயரத்துல இருக்கற பைப்புல கூட விதவிதமான காய்கறிச் செடியை பயிர்செய்ய முடியும். தேங்காய்த் துருவினதும் தூக்கி எறியற கொட்டாங்குச்சியில கீரை வளர்க்கலாம். உடைந்த மண்பானையில கத்தரிக்காய் வளர்க்கலாம். எதுல செடி வளர்க்கணும்னாலும் அடிப்படையான சில விஷயங்கள மனசுல வெச்சிக்கிட்டா போதும். நீங்க செடி வளர்க்க நினைக்கற இடத்துல ஒரு பங்கு மண்ணு, ஒரு பங்கு மணல், ஒரு பங்கு இயற்கை உரம் இது மூணையும் கலந்து போட்டு அதுல விதைச்சிடலாம். செடி வளர்க்கறதுக்காக நீங்க பயன்படுத்தறது கொட்டாங்குச்சியோ, மண்பானையோ... எதுவா இருந்தாலும் அடியில தண்ணி கசியறதுக்காக சிறுதுளைபோட வேண்டியது அவசியம்! வெண்டை, கத்தரி, தக்காளி, அவரை, துவரை, மிளகாய், கறுப்பு மிளகாய், கொத்தவரங்காய், கீரைகள்னு விதம்விதமான காய்கறிகள் இங்க விளைஞ்சி கிடக்கு. சீசனுக்கு தகுந்த மாதிரிதான் நான் விளைவிப்பேன். பாரம்பரிய விதைகளை தேடிப்பிடிச்சி வாங்கி வந்து சேகரிச்சி வெச்சிருக்கேன். அதையேதான் மறுபடி மறுபடி விதைச்சி பலன் பார்க்கிறேன். சத்தான சமச்சாரம்னு கீரைகளை வாங்கிப் பலரும் சாப்பிடறாங்க. ஆனா, அதுல எந்தளவுக்கு பூச்சி மருந்து தெளிச்சி எடுத்துக்கிட்டு வரறாங்கனு பலருக்கும் தெரியாது. தயவு செஞ்சி கீரையை மட்டுமாவது வீட்டுலயே வளர்த்துச் சாப்பிடுங்க. ஒரு குட்டாங்குச்சி, கொஞ்சம் மண். கொஞ்சம் மணல், கொஞ்சம் இயற்கை உரம், இதோட ஒரு பிடி வெந்தயம் இருந்தா போதும், அடுத்த 20-ம் நாள் தளதளனு வெந்தயக் கீரை வளர்ந்திருக்கும். கொட்டாங்குச்சியில மண்ணையும் மணலையும் நிரப்பி, உரத்தையும் போட்டு தண்ணியை ஊத்தி, வெந்தயத்தைப் போட்டு வெயில் படுற மாதிரியான இடத்துல வெச்சிட்டா போதும். இதே முறையில அரைக்கீரை, முளைக்கீரை, சிறுகீரை, பொன்னாங்கண்ணிக் கீரைனு பல கீரைகளையும் வளர்க்கமுடியும். கொத்தமல்லி, புதினாவையும் கூட இதேபோல வளர்க்கலாம். இதோ பாருங்க, இது சாதாரண சிமென்ட் பைப். புகை போக்கியா பயன்படுத்துவாங்க. இது முழுக்க மண், இயற்கை உரம் போட்டு கம்பம் மாதிரி நிக்க வெச்சிருக்கேன். பைப்புல அங்கங்க துளை போட்டு தக்காளி, கத்தரி செடிகளை நட்டிருக்கேன். பயறு விதைகளயும் போட்டிருக்கேன். ஈரம் காயாம தண்ணி ஊத்திக்கிட்டே இருக்கேன். 40-ம் நாள்ல வீட்டுக்கு வேண்டிய காய்கறிங்க இந்த பைப்புல இருந்தே எனக்குக் கிடைச்சுடும். அஞ்சாறு ஆண்டுகளா எங்க வீட்டுக்கு காய்கறி வாங்குற செலவே இல்லை'' என்று சந்தோஷம் பொங்கச் சொன்னவர், மூலிகைத்தண்ணீர் கொஞ்சம் கொடுத்து உபசரித்துவிட்டுத் தொடர்ந்தார். ''காய்கறிகளையும் பயிர் பண்ண ஆரம்பிச்ச பிறகு அதிகளவுக்கு தண்ணி கொடுக்க வேண்டியதாயிடுச்சி. குளிக்க, துணி துவைக்கனு பயன்படுத்தற தண்ணியெல்லாம் சோப்பு கலந்து வீணாத்தானே போகுது, அதை சுத்திகரிச்சி பயன்படுத்தலாமேனு ஒரு யோசனை. உடனே பயன்படுத்த ஆரம்பிச்சிட்டேன். கல்வாழை, சேப்பக் கிழங்கு இதையெல்லாம் ஜல்லியும் மண்ணும் நிரப்பின ஒரு தொட்டியில நட்டுவெச்சி, அதுல பாத்ரூம் தண்ணியை விட்டு சுத்தப்படுத்துறேன்’’ என்று சொன்னவர், செப்டிக் டேங்க் அருகே இருக்கும் இன்னொரு தொட்டியைக் காண்பித்தார். ‘‘இந்தத் தொட்டியில இருக்கிற தண்ணிதான், என் செடிகளுக்கு உயிர் கொடுத்துக்கிட்டிருக்குது. காபி கலர்ல இருக்கற இந்தத் தண்ணி எங்க இருந்து வருதுனு பார்க்கறீங்களா... எல்லாம் 'செப்டிக் டேங்க்'னு சொல்ற மனிதக் கழிவுகள் சேருகிற தொட்டித் தண்ணிதான். வழக்கமா செப்டிக் டேங்கைத் திறந்தா ஆளை அடிச்சி போடற மாதிரி விஷவாயு தாக்கும். ஆனா, எந்த ஒரு கெட்ட வாசனையும் இல்லாம இந்தத் தொட்டியை நான் மாத்தி வெச்சிருக்கேன்'' என்று அவர் சொன்னதும் வியப்பால் நம் விழிகள் விரிந்தன.  ''ஆஸ்திரேலியாவில் ஆக்டிசெம் (Actizem) என்கிற பாக்டீரியாவைப் பல விஷயங்களுக்குப் பயன் படுத்தறது பத்தி நண்பர் மூலமா தெரிஞ்சுகிட்டேன். கப்பல், விமானம் இதுல உள்ள கழிவறைகளுக்கு இந்தப் பாக்டீரியாவைததான் பயன்படுத்தறாங்க. 'இந்தப் பாக்டீரியாவை 50 கிராம் அளவுக்கு செப்டிக் டேங்க்ல விட்டா, மனித கழிவுகளை சிதைச்சு தீமை செய்ய கூடிய பாக்டீரியாக்களை எல்லாம் அழிச்சுடும். கழிவுகளை நீர் வடிவமாவும் மாற்றிடும். எந்த விதமான கெட்ட வாசனையும் வீசாது. பக்க விளை வுகளும் இருக்காது'னு சொன்னாங்க. 50 கிராம் பாக்டீரியா 250 ரூபாய்னு வாங்கிட்டு வந்து செப்டிக் டேங்குல போட்டேன். அடுத்த சில வாரங்கள்ல, வெறும் தண்ணி மட்டும்தான் செப்டிக் டேங்க்ல இருந்துச்சு. அந்தத் தண்ணியை மரச்செடிகளுக்கு மட்டும் பாய்ச்சுகிறேன். ரெண்டு மூணு வருஷத்துக்கு ஒரு முறை செப்டிக் டேங்க்கை முழுசா சுத்தம் பண்றதுக்கு உண்டான செலவும் மிச்சமாயிடுச்சி. ஒருமுறை இந்த பாக்டீரியாவை போட்டாலே போதும். அது பெருகி வளர்ந்துகிட்டே இருக்கும். சுருக்கமா சொல்லணும்னா சம்பளம் வாங்காம செப்டிக் டேங்க்கை சுத்தம் பண்ற வேலையை பாக்குது அந்த பாக்டீரியா’’ என்று சிரித்தபடியே சொன்ன இந்திரகுமார், ‘‘வீட்டுல இருந்து தண்ணி அதிகமா வெளியேறுற இன்னொரு இடம் சமையல் கட்டு. பாத்திரம் கழுவுற தண்ணி, கஞ்சித் தண்ணி இப்படி பல ரகத்துல தண்ணி வெளியே வரும். அப்படி தண்ணி வெளிய வர்ற இடத்துல ஒரு வேலையை செஞ்சி ரெண்டு விதமான பலனை எடுக்கிறேன். அலங்கார மீன்களுக்கு உணவா ஒருவகையான மண்புழுவைப் போடுவாங்க. குட்டிக்குட்டியா இருக்கிற இந்த மண்புழுவை வாங்கிக்கிட்டு வந்து சமையல் கட்டு தண்ணி வெளியே வர்ற பைப்புக்கு கீழே மண்ணுல விட்டேன். சமையல் கழிவு நீர்ல இருக்கற சத்துக்களை இந்த மண்புழுக்கள் சளைக்காம சாப்பிடுது. அதுக்கு நன்றிக் கடனா என்னோட மரங்களுக்கும், காய்கறி செடிங்களுக்கும் சத்தான மண்புழு உரத்தை மண்ணுக்குமேலே கொண்டுவந்து கொடுக்குதுங்க. 'நல்லதொரு குடும்பம் பல்கலைகழகம்'னு சொல்வாங்க. அதுவும் ஆரோக்கியமான குடும்பமா இருக்கணும். அதுக்கு எங்க வீடு ஒரு எடுத்துக்காட்டா இருக்கு. கிட்டத்தட்ட ஒரு கண்காட்சியாவும் எங்க வீடு இருக்கு. விஷயம் தெரிஞ்ச பலரும் வந்து பார்வையிட்டுப் போறாங்க. வீட்டுக்காக தொடங்கின ஒரு விஷயம், இப்ப நாட்டுல நாலுபேருக்கு பயன் படக்கூடியதாவும் மாறியிருக்கறத நினைக்கும்போது மகிழ்ச்சியா இருக்கு'' என்று சொல்லி வழி அனுப்பினார் இந்திரகுமார் (தொலைபேசி: 044-22486494).   மினரல் வாட்டர் தயாரிக்குது செம்பு!  கேன் வாட்டர், மினரல் வாட்டர் என்று பணத்தைத் தண்ணீராக செலவு செய்யும் காலமிது. ஆனால், ''வீட்டுக்கு ஒரு செம்புத் தகடு இருந்தாலே போதும், அருமையான மினரல் வாட்டர் கிடைத்துவிடும். மாசம் நூத்துக் கணக்கான ரூபாய் மிச்சமாகும்!'' என்கிறார் இந்திரகுமார். இதையும் இவரே பரிசோதித்துப் பார்த்திருக்கிறார்.  ''மைசூர்ல இருக்கற அஜய் நினைவு குடிநீர் நிறுவனத்தைச் சேர்ந்தவங்க, செம்புப் பாத்திரத்துல தண்ணியை வெச்சி ஒரு ஆராய்ச்சி நடத்தினாங்க. அதோட முடிவுல, 'செம்புப் பாத்திரத்தில் 24-மணி நேரம் குடிநீரை வைத்திருந்து பரிசோதித்துப் பார்த்ததில், மனிதர் களுக்குப் பாதிப்பு ஏற்படுத்தும் நுண்ணுயிரிகள் எதுவும் அந்த நீரில் இல்லை'னு அந்த நிறுவனம் சொல்லியிருக்கு. இந்தத் தகவல் தெரிஞ்சதிலிருந்து செம்புக் குடத்துல வெச்சிருந்துதான் தண்ணியைக் குடிக்கிறோம். எங்கக் கிணத்துல கிடைக்கறத் தண்ணி, செம்புக் குடத்துக்குப் போனதும் மினரல் வாட்டர் மாதிரி அருமையா மாறிடுது. செம்பு குடம் இல்லனாலும் பரவாயில்லை. ஒரு கையளவு செப்பு தகட்டை குடத்துக்குள்ள போட்டு வெச்சா கூட உங்க வீட்டுத் தண்ணி தரமானதா மாறிடும். மூணு நாளைக்கு ஒரு தரம் செம்பு தகட்டை எடுத்துப் பார்த்தா பாசி புடிச்ச மாதிரி இருக்கும். அதெல்லாம் பாக்டீரியாக்கள்தான். தகட்டைச் சுத்தமா கழுவிட்டு திரும்பவும் குடத்துக்குள்ள போட்டு வைக்கலாம். அந்தக் காலத்துல பல வீடுகள்ல செம்புக்குடம்தான். இன்னிக்கும் சில கிராமங்கள்ல செம்பு குடத்துலதான் தண்ணி வெச்சி ருந்து குடிக்கறாங்க’’ என்று ஆதாரங்களை எடுத்து வைத்துப்பேசினார். உரமாகும் காய்களின் கழிவு!  வீட்டுத்தோட்டத்துக்கு என்று உரங்களைத் தேடி எங்கேயும் அலைய வேண்டியதில்லை. காய்கறிக் கழிவுகளை வைத்தே அருமையான உரங்களைத் தயாரிக்கிறார் இந்திரகுமார்.  ‘‘முழுக்க இயற்கையான முறையில விளைவிக்கறதால பூச்சி மருந்துகளை கொஞ்சம் கூட நான் தெளிச்சதே இல்லை. மண்புழு உரம், தொழு உரம் இதை மட்டும்தான் பயன் படுத்தறேன். தினமும் வீட்டுல கிடைக்கற வெங்காயத் தோல், காய்கறித்தோல் இதையெல்லாம் ஒரு சின்னத் தொட்டியில போட்டு வைக்கலாம். ஒவ்வொரு முறையும் காய்கறிக்கழிவை தொட்டியில போடும்போது, காய்ந்த சாணத்தையும் அதோட சேர்த்துப் போடணும். சாணம் கிடைக்காட்டி, மணல் போட்டா. இதுல இருக்கற நுண்ணுயிரிகள் காய்கறிக் கழிவை மட்க வைக்குது. எந்தக் காரணத்தைக் கொண்டும் சூரியஓளி படும்படி தொட்டியை வைக்கக்கூடாது. நாற்பது நாளைக்குள்ள தொட்டியில் உள்ள கழிவெல்லாம் உரமாகிடும். இதை எடுத்து அப்படியே செடிகளுக்கு போடலாம்'' என்று உரத்தயாரிப்பை விவரித்தவர்,  ''பூச்சிகளை கட்டுப்படுத்த ஒரு ஜீவனையும் நான் வளர்க்கிறேன். அதோ திரியுதே சேவல்.. அதுதான் அந்த ஜீவன். செடிகள்ல இருக்கற புழு, பூச்சிகளை அதுவே லபக்கிடும்'' என்று சொல்லி ஆச்சர்யப்படுத்தினார்.

Peter and the Magic Thread.

Peter was a very lively

little boy. Everyone loved him: his family, his teachers and his

friends. But he did have one weakness."

"What was that?"

"Peter could never live in the moment He had not learned to

enjoy the process of life. When he was in school, he dreamed of

being outside playing. When he was outside playing he dreamed of

his summer vacation. Peter constantly daydreamed, never taking

the time to savor the special moments that filled his days. One

morning, Peter was out walking in a forest near his home. Feeling

tired, he decided to rest on a patch of grass and eventually dozed

off. After only a few minutes of deep sleep, he heard someone

calling his name. 'Peter! Peter!' came the shrill voice from above.

As he slowly opened his eyes, he was startled to see a striking

woman standing above him. She must have been over a hundred

years old and her snow-white hair dangled well below her

shoulders like a matted blanket of wool. In this woman's wrinkled

hand was a magical little ball with a hole in the center and out of

the hole dangled a long, golden thread."

"'Peter,' she said, this is the thread of your life. If you pull the

thread just a bit, an hour will pass in seconds. If you pull a little

harder, whole days will pass in minutes. And if you pull with all

your might, months — even years — will pass by in days.' Peter

grew very excited at this discovery. 'I'd like to have it if I may?' he

asked. The elderly woman quickly reached down and gave the ball

with the magic thread to the young boy.

The next day, Peter was sitting in the classroom feeling

restless and bored. Suddenly, he remembered his new toy. As he

pulled a little bit of the golden thread, he quickly found himself at

home, playing in his garden. Realizing the power of the magic

thread, Peter soon grew tired of being a schoolboy and longed to

be a teenager, with all the excitement that phase of life would

bring. So again he pulled out the ball and pulled hard on the golden

thread.

Suddenly he was a teenager with a very pretty young

girlfriend named Elise. But Peter still wasn't content. He had

never learned to enjoy the moment and to explore the simple

wonders of every stage of his life. Instead, he dreamed of being an

adult. So again he pulled on the thread and many years whizzed by

in an instant. Now he found that he had been transformed into a

middle-aged adult. Elise was now his wife and Peter was

surrounded with a houseful of kids. But Peter also noticed

something else. His once jet black hair had started to turn grey.

And his once youthful mother whom he loved so dearly had grown

old and frail. Yet Peter still could not live in the moment. He had

never learned to 'live in the now' So, once again, he pulled on the

magic thread and waited for the changes to appear.

Peter now found that he was a ninety-year-old man. His thick

dark hair had turned white as snow and his beautiful young wife

Elise had also grown old and had passed away a few years earlier.

His wonderful children had grown up and left home to lead lives

of their own. For the first time in his entire life, Peter realized that

he had not taken the time to embrace the wonders of living. He

had never gone fishing with his kids or taken a moonlight stroll

with Elise. He had never planted a garden or read those

wonderful books his mother had loved to read. Instead, he had

hurried through life, never resting to see all that was good along

the way.

Peter became very sad at this discovery. He decided to go out

to the forest where he used to walk as a boy to clear his head and

warm his spirit. As he entered the forest, he noticed that the little

saplings of his childhood had grown into mighty oaks. The forest

itself had matured into a paradise of nature. He lay down on a

small patch of grass and fell into a deep slumber. After only a

minute, he heard someone calling out to him. 'Peter! Peter!' cried

the voice. He looked up in astonishment to see that it was none

other than the old woman who had given him the ball with the

magic golden thread many years earlier.

'How have you enjoyed my special gift?' she asked.

Peter was direct in his reply.

'At first it was fun but now I hate it. My whole life has passed

before my eyes without giving me the chance to enjoy it. Sure,

there would have been sad times as well as great times but I

haven't had the chance to experience either. I feel empty inside. I

have missed the gift of living.'

'You are very ungrateful,' said the old woman. 'Still, I will give

you one last wish.'

Peter thought for an instant and then answered hastily. 'I'd

like to go back to being a schoolboy and live my life over again.' He

then returned to his deep sleep.

Again he heard someone calling his name and opened his eyes.

'Who could it be this time?' he wondered. When he opened his

eyes, he was absolutely delighted to see his mother standing over

his bedside. She looked young, healthy and radiant. Peter realized

that the strange woman of the forest had indeed granted his wish

and he had returned to his former life.

'Hurry up Peter. You sleep too much. Your dreams will make

you late for school if you don't get up right this minute,' his mother

admonished. Needless to say, Peter dashed out of bed on this

morning and began to live the way he had hoped. Peter went on to

live a full life, one rich with many delights, joys and triumphs, but

it all started when he stopped sacrificing the present for the future

and began to live in the moment."
