B-2 STEALTH BOMBER – NORTHROP

Unlike F 117, B 2 is a stealth Bomber. It does not have the agility and flying dynamics of a fighter plane.

The entire body has a curved shape. It’s built in carbon fiber composite and titanium. Carbon fiber is stronger than steel and lighter than aluminum. The range of B 2 is an astounding 6000 miles. It has a capacity to carry 16, 2000 pound missile. On board computers make the plane aerodynamically stable. It was first unveiled in 1988. B 2 was first used in Serbia war against the forces of Slobodan Milosevic. One B 2 has the firepower equal to eight F 16s. The B 2 bomber also does not have any defense systems. It mainly relies on its stealth. When NATO forces declared war, B 2 bombers flew from Missouri in the United States to Yugoslavia. En route it had only 2 air refueling.

Missile delivery is based on GPS. B 2 bombs precision is not as accurate as F 117, but considering its fire power it can cause collateral damage. One B 2 stealth bomber costs 2 billion dollar. i.e. INR 8000 Crores.

Northrop is the company that developed B 2.
