Akai smart box
Japanese consumer electronics brand, Akai has announced the launch of the Akai Smart Box. According to an official statement by the company, the product transforms any television -- CRT, Plasma, LCD or LED -- into a smart TV. Akai Smart Box, based on the Android platform, maintains an open network without getting restricted to the servers of smart TV brands, as in the case of most smart TVs. The device will be available across India at an introductory festive offer price of Rs 6,590. The MRP is Rs 6,990.
The Akai Smart Box comes with a wireless mouse for navigation with which any TV can perform all the functions that a tablet PC normally does. It is equipped with 4GB internal memory, and supports memory up to 32GB through an SD Card slot. It allows users to connect to the Internet and browse websites, read books and newspapers, check e-mails, look up weather updates and market updates, play games, book travel tickets, play music, play videos on YouTube, use Facebook, Twitter and Skype. Customers can also shop from the TV by visiting shopping portals.
The Akai Smart Box turns regular TVs into Smart TVs
Pranay Dhabhai, Managing Director, Akai India said, “Product life span in today’s digital age is short; buy anything and by the time you’ve stepped out of the shop it’s already outdated. Our Smart Box is set to change the way television is seen in India. Customers can upgrade their existing TV to a Smart TV which gives Full HD viewing experience without changing their existing TV. Even consumers who are planning to purchase Smart TVs can choose to buy a normal LED TV and connect with our Smart Box to get the benefits of smart TV at a fraction of the price.”
With the Android operating system, the Akai Smart Box converts a normal TV into a PC. It also creates a hotspot when connected to a LAN cable or a 3G dongle, as it transmits Wi-Fi signal to operate other gadgets. It also supports 2G network. Customers can even print documents from the Wi-Fi enabled printer. By using the HDMI cable one can get Full HD picture quality. It has 4 USB ports. So, besides a mouse, keyboard and webcam, one can connect a hard disk drive or a USB flash drive, and view their contents on the TV. The Smart Box supports all popular formats of movies, music and photos. It can also save photos and videos recorded through the webcam.
The Akai Smart Box also supports the Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) function, which allows users to seamlessly access and share digital content from their mobile phones onto the TV screen, when connected with a common Wi-Fi device.

Overtimers:-
It’s
half past 8 in the office but the lights are still on… PCs still
running, coffee machines still buzzing… And who’s at work? Most of them
??? Take a closer look…
All or most specimens are ?? Something male species of the human race…
Look closer… again all or most of them are bachelors…
And why are they sitting late? Working hard? No way!!! Any guesses??? Let’s ask one of them… Here’s what he says… ‘What’s there 2 do after going home…Here we get to surf, AC, phone, food, coffee that is why I am working late…Importantly no bossssssss!!!!!!!!!!!’
This is the scene in most research centers and software companies and other off-shore offices.
Bachelors ‘Passing-Time’ during late hours in the office just bcoz they say they’ve nothing else to do… Now what r the consequences…
‘Working’ (for the record only) late hours soon becomes part of the institute or company culture.
With bosses more than eager to provide support to those ‘working’ late in the form of taxi vouchers, food vouchers and of course good feedback, (oh, he’s a hard worker….. goes home only to change..!!). They aren’t helping things too…
To hell with bosses who don’t understand the difference between ‘sitting’ late and ‘working’ late!!!
Very soon, the boss start expecting all employees to put in extra working hours.
So, My dear Bachelors let me tell you, life changes when u get married and start having a family… office is no longer a priority, family is… and That’s when the problem starts… b’coz u start having commitments at home too.
For your boss, the earlier ‘hardworking’ guy suddenly seems to become a ‘early leaver’ even if u leave an hour after regular time… after doing the same amount of work.
People leaving on time after doing their tasks for the day are labelled as work-shirkers…
Girls who thankfully always (its changing nowadays… though) leave on time are labelled as ‘not up to it’. All the while, the bachelors pat their own backs and carry on ‘working’ not realizing that they r spoiling the work culture at their own place and never realize that they would have to regret at one point of time.
So what’s the moral of the story??
* Very clear, LEAVE ON TIME!!!
* Never put in extra time ‘ unless really needed ‘
* Don’t stay back unnecessarily and spoil your company work culture which will in turn cause inconvenience to you and your colleagues.
There are hundred other things to do in the evening..
Learn music…..
Learn a foreign language…
Try a sport… TT, cricket………..
Importantly, get a girl friend or boy friend, take him/her around town…
* And for heaven’s sake, net cafe rates have dropped to an all-time low (plus, no fire-walls) and try cooking for a change.
Take a tip from the Smirnoff ad: *’Life’s calling, where are you??’*
Please pass on this message to all those colleagues and please do it before leaving time, don’t stay back till midnight to forward this!!!
IT’S A TYPICAL INDIAN MENTALITY THAT WORKING FOR LONG HOURS MEANS VERY HARD WORKING & 100% COMMITMENT ETC.
PEOPLE WHO REGULARLY SIT LATE IN THE OFFICE DON’T KNOW TO MANAGE THEIR TIME. SIMPLE !
Regards, NARAYAN MURTHY.

6 Meals a day to loose weight
Are you still stuck in the three-heavy-meals-a-day rut? Do you
think that the six-meals-a-day routine is not meant for you?
If your answer to both questions is yes, then don't worry you are not alone. Technically, how many meals you eat in a day doesn't matter, but how you spread your total calorie consumption in the day does affect your food habits. Research has time and again proved that those who eat six small meals a day are more successful at eating healthy and losing unwanted weight. Let's understand why.
Why is it important to eat six mini meals in a day. More than 95% of overweight individuals are in the habit of eating three square meals a day. Because these meals are infrequent and ill-timed they tend to be heavier and low on nutrition. This affects metabolism quite adversely. Across on the six mini meals side though, your meals will be timely and nutritious as they will be part of a carefully planned daily menu. For instance, a healthy and well-portioned breakfast followed by five moderately sized meals spread through the day will keep your metabolic rate healthy. It will also keep your hormone levels stable and regulate your blood sugar level, burning more calories. Irregular eating patterns and skipped meals are the main reasons why people cannot lose weight.
Stay away from the word 'snack'. Think of snacking, and the immediate images that the word conjures up in our minds are those of fried chips, chocolates, sodas, candy bars and every other unhealthy food under the sun. It is not snacking itself, which is bad for us but the junk and convenient yet unhealthy foods associated with it. The right way to snack is to invest in healthy foods that you can eat without guilt. These snacks are what make up the in-between meals in a six mini meals a day meal plan. Make each meal an opportunity to eat a well portioned and nutritionally balanced meal, which includes lean protein, complex carbohydrates and healthy fats.
'More is less' is the new mantra for eating healthy. The health bonuses of eating more of mini meals in a day are many. This will help you in adding a greater variety of foods to your meal plan, thus helping you meet your daily nutritional needs.
If you hear nutritionists say that to lose more you have to eat more, don't be alarmed. What they mean is that healthy weight loss involves eating healthy meals more frequently in clever portions. No wonder then that most successful weight loss warriors eat a lot more than those who are stuck in a weight loss rut.
Never starve yourself for long durations. By eating three meals in a day, which are set apart too far you tend to, unknowingly, drop your blood sugar levels. When this happens, there is a sudden urge to reach for unhealthy snacks in order to satisfy the cravings. Instead, grab a quick healthy high-carb or lean high-protein snack, which will keep your stomach full until you find your next balanced meal. The trick here is to stay away from eating loads of unnecessary unsaturated fats and calories.
Still not convinced? Here are three more reasons why you should eat 6 meals in a day.
- It will keep you away from overeating and automatically help you maintain your portion sizes.
- Eating smaller and healthy meals will also help you fight the risk of lifestyle conditions, such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and hypertension, which are all linked to unhealthy meals.
- This dietary routine will also help in maintaining your body's muscle tone, because it will feed amino acids and nutrients to your muscles at frequent intervals, especially when combined with exercising.
Choose power-packed healthy meal combos. The buzz word here is diversity. The more diverse your meals, the more you are likely to balance your proteins, carbs, and fats. Here are some power packed combination ideas:
- Spinach is already quite healthy, but when you combine it with an avocado, it becomes even healthier. Research suggests that healthy fats in avocado enhance the fat-soluble carotenoids in spinach.
- Seasonal fruits. A handful of almonds and other dried fruit.
- Vitamin C when combined with eggs is the most powerful supporter of iron absorption. Vitamin C makes the iron up to 6 times more soluble, which means that you can use 100% of the iron you munch, keeping fatigue-causing anemia- at bay.
- A large bowl of skim milk and whole grain cereal. Add your favourite fruit to it.
- A tiny sized bran muffin along with raisins and a medium-sized glass of skim milk.
- One egg, whole wheat toast, and a glass of orange or apple juice.
- One whole wheat roti combined with steamed chicken and stir-fried vegetables.

Fine Words !!
Never try to teach a pig to sing, it wastes your time and also it annoys the pig.
Well done is better than well said
Everyone thinks of changing the world but no one thinks of changing himself / herself
You are what you think you are.
We will either find a way or make one.
What doesn't kill me makes me stronger.
Better light a candle than curse the darkness.
Give me a place to stand and I will move the earth.
Things do not change but we change.
Your attitude determines your altitude.
Success leaves clues.
Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on after others have let go.
You will do foolish things but do them with enthusiasm.
Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell em, certainly i can - and get busy and find out how to do it.
Nothing is impossible to a willing heart.
You must do things you think you cannot do.
People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing.
Be not afraid of growing slowly but be afraid only of standing still.
The harder you fall the higher you bounce.
No one knows what he can do unless he tries.
You are today what your thoughts have brought

The 5 S's:-
There are five primary 5S phases:
sorting, straightening, systematic cleaning, standardizing, and sustaining.
Sorting (Seiri)
Eliminate all unnecessary tools,
parts, and instructions. Go through all tools, materials, and so forth in the
plant and work area. Keep only essential items and eliminate what is not
required, prioritizing things per requirements and keeping them in
easily-accessible places. Everything else is stored or discarded.
Stabilizing or
Straightening Out (Seiton)
There should be a place for everything
and everything should be in its place. The place for each item should be
clearly indicated. Items should be arranged in a manner that promotes efficient
work flow, with equipment used most often being the most easily accessible.
Workers should not have to bend repetitively to access materials. Each tool,
part, supply, or piece of equipment should be kept close to where it will be
used – in other words, straightening the flow path. Seiton is one of the
features that distinguishes 5S from "standardized cleanup". This
phase can also be referred to as Simplifying.[1]
Sweeping or
Shining (Seiso)
Standardized cleaning-point at a 5S organized plant
Clean the workspace and all equipment,
and keep it clean, tidy and organized. At the end of each shift, clean the work
area and be sure everything is restored to its place. This makes it easy to
know what goes where and ensures that everything is where it belongs. Spills,
leaks, and other messes also then become a visual signal for equipment or
process steps that need attention. A key point is that maintaining cleanliness
should be part of the daily work – not an occasional activity initiated when
things get too messy.
Standardizing (Seiketsu)
Work practices should be consistent
and standardized. All work stations for a particular job should be identical.
All employees doing the same job should be able to work in any station with the
same tools that are in the same location in every station. Everyone should know
exactly what his or her responsibilities are for adhering to the first 3 S's.
Sustaining the
Practice (Shitsuke)
Maintain and review standards. Once
the previous 4 S's have been established, they become the new way to operate.
Maintain focus on this new way and do not allow a gradual decline back to the
old ways. While thinking about the new way, also be thinking about yet better
ways. When an issue arises such as a suggested improvement, a new way of
working, a new tool or a new output requirement, review the first 4 S's and
make changes as appropriate. It should be made as a habit and be continually
improved.

How to make 3D glasses for less than Rs. 10/-
How to make 3D glasses for less than Rs. 10/-
There are tons of anaglyph 3D videos and
images available on the Internet. Sadly though, you need equipment to watch all
of this. Fear not now, as with household equipment, ten bucks and close to ten
minutes of your time (depending on your craft skills), you can create the
cheapest 3D glasses for your 3D viewing pleasure. Let’s quickly get started...
Step 1: Things you need:
- Cardboard
- Chart paper
- Red Cellophane paper
- Blue Cellophane paper
- Cutter, Glue, Scissors
Step 2: Draw your own design that
you would want to see in your 3D glasses. If you’re lazy and uninspired, cut
out the sample design given in the image.
Step 3: Stick that
design on to your cardboard and cut it out so that you have a sturdy
frame.
Step 4: Ensure that the
eyeholes and the area for the nose are properly cut. You don’t want your skin
to get sore, or the cardboard to block your visibility
Cut out the sides in a similar way.
Step 5: Cut out the red
cellophane and blue cellophane paper and stick them on the front of the
glasses. Be sure to remember that the red needs to go on the left and the
blue needs to go on the right.
Step 6: Voila! Your 3D
glasses are ready! All it took us was close to twenty minutes to get the whole
experiment done. As you can see, our craft skills do leave a lot to be desired
but hey, if you do manage to conjure something better, post it out here for the tech world
to see!
Ready!
For those of you'll who have already
completed this short tutorial, check out this 3D content we’ve compiled from
different sources off the Internet. Feast your eyes!
